September 04 Seiji Iwami’s World Of CartoonOn 15.8.2009 my daughters joined "Manga Lecture & Demonstration by Seiji Iwami" at Balai Seni Lukis Negara, learning some basic points about Manga illustration from a sifu. My daughters were selected by Balai Seni Lukis primarily on the basis they watch TV cartoon programs more than anyone else, I guess.I was unexpectedly pushed to join the fray of the workshop after the organizer realized low participant turn up. At one point the sifu ushered me up to the stage as subject of his cartoon image. In the end it was fun and educational activity for my kids. I wonder if they will end up as cartoonists. May 17 When can Arsenal win the title Wenger?I wrote my comment in the TheMalaysianInsider (using pseudonym Adabayar), expressing my general opinion of Wenger’s growing complacency and obsession to build young talents and his brand of football at the expenses of championship titles. http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/index.php/sports/26685-wenger-arsenal-fans-make-me-feel-like-a-murderer Mr. Wenger cannot use the same excuse over and over again, complacency at 4rd place 3 seasons in a row and justifying his success based on raising young talent standard. Sooner or later people are tired to hear this. In sports, only win the title is count. The last silverware Arsenal won was 2005. People don't remember or care which team at 2nd place, much less if at lower. Yes he may get next chance to lead Arsenal. The question is, can he make a difference? Looking at progress for the past 3 seasons, the answer is slim chance. He can express his frustration to fans for being unfair but the fundamental of football is very simple-win the title. Period.
May 11 The Years That Were…….The photo collection here perhaps a sneak preview of last year activities. They are SportClub futsal at Ampang Sport Planet (my family members enjoy free meals served for the event), team outing at our favorite Kadir Tom Yam restaurant and fusebal game (unfortunately the set is unable to withstand the extreme challenge from the Authorizers venting their pressure. It is now in idle state, waiting for someone to do restoration work). May 08 Badminton TodayToday we face a bit challenge to make up number of players to play. Simply 6pm to 8.30pm poses limited options for those working today and compounded with traffic condition after office hour on Friday. That leaves Zarrafat and I as confirmed players to play at Stadium Badminton Cheras. I have forewarned him to be well prepared playing 10 sets of single. April 26 Amex 30th Years Anniversary April 22'09 - American Express Malaysia celebrated 30th Anniversary. Yes you got it right 30 years in Malaysia. Unfortunately I lost count number of years I have been with this company, except I started off in MAS building, where Amex Malaysia was a full fledge of Malaysia business then and I could remember all employees by names in all departments. The fact of the matter Amex Malaysia stays located in Golden Triangle, means I don't have to worry about commuting such far planets like Cyberjaya.
In conjunction with this celebration, Amex Malaysia organized a cross cultural dress, which put me under pressure to look for Jiva for an Indian customes. Jiva listed down all sort of Indian costumes in his wardrobe for my choices. I told Jiva just bring whatever you think fit except his recent wedding costumes. Like always Johana, made our day, capturing all the great moments for this occasion while I began to feel the funny sense of wearing traditional costume at work and hoping this will over very soon. Shankitha proudly poses the prestigous award of Hewitt's no 2 rank best employer in Malaysia and top 25 in Asia. I bet you can figure out by now why I still remain in Amex. April 14 Asif Briyani Rice & Nasi Padang Kg. BaruOur food outlet expert, Mawi (not the celebrity) introduced us Asif Nasi Briyani stall last Friday. It is located at Jalan Imbi near to Ritz Carlton. It serves so called authentic Pakistani cuisine. Briyani Rice with lamb shank is the highly recommended by Zarrafat, judging by he keeps on talking about it. I did not bring camera to capture the scene.
For those not a fan of mamak food, Nasi Padang Kg Baru is a great choice. The restaurant serves a great variety of Minangkabau cuisine at extremely affordable prices. Mutton rendang & Dendeng beef are the must try selection. Badminton   I played badminton when I was a kid and Misbun Sidek was a top player. Somehow after SPM the interest fizzled out and grew into football instead. Since then I never thought about going back to badminton. The idea came back when an effort to organize futsal never took off and I can bet my last dollar I don't think anybody else can get enough people from Authorizer team. Then all of sudden a light bulb appeared above my head "Why don't we try badminton for a change?" and the rest is history.
Now we have an unofficial Auths Badminton Club with membership is open to Amex Authorizations, ex-colleagues or even strangers for that matter. It is certainly a nice life balance value for funny shift environment. The Club organizes twice a week at various venues. Lately we face growing challenge to secure courts and what a surprise, many people are now into badminton. So now we need to crack our head how to secure courts that seem getting tougher by weeks.
